Sunday 13 March 2016

Last week we worked very hard in many areas and have produced some pieces of work to be proud of.

English

We have been learning about recounts and the children have all written a letter as an evacuee.  The children were asked to include all key features of a recount and set it out in the style of a letter.  They had to include time connectives, past tense, 1st person, paragraphs, adjectives and put it in chronological order.  This week we are going to focus on up leveling these letters and then they will be redrafted to be displayed on our history displays in class.  The children will continue with comprehension skills, handwriting and spelling practice.

Maths

We have continued to look at 2D shape and classifying triangles.  The best part of the week was when we all took part in Whole school Maths day.  The children used clues to solve a mystery using heir Maths skills.  They enjoyed practical maths outside where they use data handling to collect information on a group who were shooting baskets and keeping up a tennis ball on a racket.  Another group measured standing long jumps and converted the measurements to mm,cm and m.  The children worked very hard and really enjoyed the activities.  The mathematician of the day in each class will receive a certificate next week.

Topic

The children will use pastels to create Blitz pictures in Art and begin to look at jobs on the home front.  They will write an advert for a job and include a job description.

There is the next Sacramental meeting in church on Thursday at 6.30pm, all Year 4 children must attend.

Mrs Long's class has been asked to lead the Easter Service this year so they will begin practicing this week.

Here are some pictures of the Maths Day:
