Sunday 24 April 2016

This week we had Merseyside gateway in doing an assembly.  It was so interesting finding out about all the different types of bridges and how the new bridge is progressing and how they are building each stage.  The children remembered so much information and asked relevant questions.

English:

The children were brilliant this week .  They managed to learn their section of the poem and put very creative actions to it.  Then we began to make a story map to help us remember the poem. The children really enjoyed this and will continue with is next week looking at monster poems.

Y3 will be working on their comprehension skills this week and grammar including apostrophes and spelling patterns.

Y4 will use their experiences at Kingswood to write reports, instructions and diary entries next week.

Maths:

Y3 will work on time this week and complete real life problems using timelines.
Y4 will continue with statistics this week before they go to Kingswood and complete a mental maths test.

Topic:

The children have all written their plan for the chocolate investigation which will take place this week, where the children will carry out the investigation to determine which temperature melts the chocolate most quickly.  They must ensure the test is fair and make observations to complete thier results table.  The children have discussed variable and they know everything has to be the same for each test apart from the change in temperature.

Y3
While the Y4 children are away the Y3 children will complete a mini project about the River Mersey.  They will use ICT to carry out their research and present their findings to their peers.

Y4 will leave for Kingswood on Wednesday at 12.15pm.  All the staff have made lots of preparations and given up their own time to make sure your children have a trip to remember.  Watch this space for photos and recounts from the children about their experiences.

Some of our poetry performances...

Have a great week!
