Sunday 3 April 2016

This week was fantastic as we went to the air raid shelters.
The children looked at real artifacts...they tried on gas masks, clothing, they learnt WW2 songs, they experienced first hand how it would have felt to be in the Blitz in a real public shelter, with 2 thousand bed spaces;they were plunged into blackness as the lights went out under 40 feet of sandstone! This experience gave the children the ammunition to write brilliant persuasive leaflets to promote the trip.

After the holiday we will be studying poetry in English, we will be revisiting a variety of areas of maths. The new topic will be geography based...'Water'.  We will look at the water cycle, rivers, oceans, bridges including the local area.  The children will be asked to produce their final project on this topic and it will be due in on Tuesday 3rd May.  Again this can be done in a variety of ways such as a power point, a poster, a model, a piece of writing (in their own words), a drawing etc.

There will be a meeting this Tuesday after school about the Kingswood trip.
The next Sacremental programme session for Y4 is on Tuesday 26th April in church.

Have a great holiday children!
